Aug. 21st, 2004 12:49 ammissing the collective idiot so much...cin's in hong kong or japan, not sure which one at the moment, and nik's back at school, but may as well be in hong kong or japan, since we're not gonna see each other for a while now, 'till thanksgiving or later. sad. but that's life.
so avi suggested that i space out my friend-praise type entries to avoid issues, and i think i'll do that. this first one will be about two completely different people who prompted me to think of doing these entries, for no real reason.
person 1: emily,
newerabooks. i was reading a comment she left on one of my last entries, the one about men's gymnastics, and i just had this thought that she's such a cool person because she can be really collected and have it all together and be on top of everything and all serious, but in the next moment, she's cracking jokes and giggling over some hot guy and just being very funny and insane with me. emily, i think my favorite thing about you is that you're so strong in your values, yet so laid-back...like you know what you want and what you're doing, so you're not stressing a lot about it. i have a bad habit of trying to live up my friends' standards and values instead of my own, but you're one of the few people i've never felt that way with. and you give wonderful hugs!
person 2: avi,
avirr. avi's such a great friend...she and i don't know each other so well in real life, more online than anything else, but she's always there with a comment and good advice whenever there's something wrong or i'm just being whiny. i didn't think it was really possible to make internet friends, just 'cause it's hard, not seeing people or talking to them on the phone, but now i know it really does happen sometimes. avi, it's so nice to have words of wisdom from someone who's been through the insanity of child/parent relationships from both sides. your kids are super lucky to have a mom like you, someone who's understanding and fair and has loads of good values to pass along. i always feel better when i see a comment from you in my inbox 'cause i know it'll be something comforting and helpful.
ok, i'm done being sappy for the moment. good night to everyone.
oh, before i forget...kevin or tali, if you're reading this, call me! i wanna hang out with you two!
