one very quick update: we are now refugees.

the apartment above ours had a small fire, the second in our building in a week. their sprinklers went nuts, flooding their place completely and overflowing into ours. we are now displaced, for at least today and possibly longer, so my sincere apologies to anyone i'm supposed to get in touch with...it probably will not happen today.

cindy and i are at emily's for the day (we love you, emily). tomorrow, we will find out how much longer we have to stay out of the water-damaged apartment, and if it's a lot, they'll put us up in a hotel. this is all highly distressing, but thank goodness for small favors -- my midterms and other personal hell finished last week. yay. so yes, if you need to get in touch with me, cell phone is the only reliable method, since land line is out and i won't be checking my e-mail a whole lot.

Thanks to you and Cindy, I've had an eventful day! I got to watch a movie and hang out with friends and help clear off your floor for carpet shampooing. :) I also get to be a helpful hostess for as long as you need me. Like a good emergency shelter, I am adept at coming up with sleeping bags, towels, shampoo, and water stations. (Refugees always seem to need to stay hydrated, don't ask me why. ;)
You're taking a nap on my bed right now, and Cindy's on the couch, so I think I'll go read Visiting Mr. Green (which both you and Kevin liked) or work on a poetry assignment or something.
