one more post, and then to bed

i'm actually going to bed before midnight. imagine that. but really, what i wanted to say is that having a counter on my lj is entertaining and infuriating at the same time. while it tells me the number of page views and visitors and even location sometimes, it doesn't actually tell me who people are! so now i'm left to puzzle over the fact that someone from the netherlands was reading my lj. bizarre! anyone know people in the netherlands? 'cause off the top of my head, i don't. also, new jersey? yeah. but i'm entertained, so it's all good.

Well..

With something like a counter, you really need to look at the data in the aggregate form after at least a week - more like a month. It's very possible someone from the netherlands was doing a search on google, managed to find your LJ, clicked it, the page loaded, they went "oh this isn't what I want" and clicked back. Of course, it's also possible you have a stalker from the netherlands - which is why you look and see if there was only 1 hit or hundreds of hits ;)

my journal shouldn't come up on google or elsewhere 'cause i've blocked robots and spiders from accessing it, but it's entirely possible that someone on lj hit the "random" button and got my journal. if the person from the netherlands comes back, though, i will be very confused.

are you using S1 or S2 for your style? you can add a counter for the generator layout in either one, but there are different ways to do it.
