so i went to this play called "betrayal," and the playbill included three poems by yeats. one of them just hit me for some reason...i read it over and over again without really comprehending why. it made me shiver...so i thought i'd post it for everyone to read.

When You Are Old

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
(1892)

that is such a gorgeous poem...the second verse particularly strikes me...i'm not sure why. i'm sure i could get philosophical right now, but since i have a quiz in the morning, i'll just go to sleep.

last though: i hate guys who are ambiguously nice...they should make their intentions clear. i wish i knew what was going on...bother. ok, goodnight all.
