aah, don't you just love some people? the wonderful president of our wonderful ballroom dance club has decided that we must have mandatory e-mail checks at lest once a day, and preferably twice...once in the morning and once in the evening. what is this? seriously, who does she think she is? bother this idiocy.

What?

You mean you don't check your email at least once a day? I check mine every time I'm home! Get with it! =P

Seriously though, if email is going to replace phone calling, then it IS important for an organizational body to check it quite frequently. The other option is to do everything via the phone, which has other problems. Email is simpler, and easier. If you have no responsibility, it doesn't matter one way or another, but if you have a responsibility to a group of people there needs to be a relatively immediate and reliable way to contact you. If you don't want that way to be email, provide another, and realize that you're making it harder on the rest of the organization.

(Yes this is an issue I've dealt with on some levels too, having done the whole responsibility thing a time or two, so I have a fairly strong opinion)

The person in charge always dictates the tone of the administration, which is why the US president picks his cabinet and appoints thousands of other positions-- you want people who agree with your system. Unfortunately, you're the vice president, which is as useful as "a bucket of warm piss", metaphorically speaking in terms of having things run with your style, which I assume is more easygoing.

Well, all regimes fall one day or another, even if it's not coming for at least another year. Of course, you could always resign and let her appoint someone who's willing to deal with this. Or you could stage a coup d'etat and rally all the people who didn't vote for her to your side. Hey, why not do both?

Beware the ides of March....

I was under the impression that the vice presidentcy was quoted as "bucket of warm spit" but then again urine makes more sense.. And with the presidentcy, I feel I should remind you (Laini) of the senior tennis team.. in which we just lost the fun-ness that of hanging out with cool people that are good at what they do. The check ups seem a little much, seems like it would work to have a headquarters with a watcher/recorder and everybody in the club with walkie-talkies or an intercom.. but then again, I don't know what tasks the club is trying to accomplish.. so well then....
