am considering making this journal, from now on, friends-only, since i already am locking a fair percentage of the things i post. what do you guys think?

On whether you want people to know that you're making your journal friends-only. If you have only old posts showing, then people can sort of tell that you're restricting your posts. If you have the occasional one showing, then people won't be so suspicious about the life you're hiding :P

BTW, you have to know where to look, but on LJ you can find out if someone is posting entries you don't have access to.

yeah, that's true...i guess if i made the journal friends-only, i wouldn't really mind people knowing it. the problem is filtered posts, where some people have access but not others. that's a whole separate issue, though.

In the archive? - Or, rather, if the calendar says that the person posted something that day, but you can't access it?

Yeah, you can also see in the user info when the last post was made, regardless of whether you're allowed to read it or not...

well, i don't mind people knowing it was friends-only...i'd probably post something in my info or in a post that would always appear at the top that would say that the journal was mostly locked. the life i'm hiding? heh. that's great.
