tire went nuts today. thank goodness for AAA. i really need to learn how to change a tire myself, since it didn't look all that hard. now i've got the tiny spare tire (which means no freeways!) 'till saturday or so, when i can figure out where to go to get a new one. blah.

in better news, my niece nicole turned 1 yesterday! and took her first steps! cuteness! and i had a really nice evening yesterday...the setup went pretty well and then i met up with melinda and we had dinner and desserts at tart to tart and good conversation, so that was happy. so yeah, life's good, even if my car is messing with me.

I changed a tire a few weeks ago for the first time that I can remember. I vaguely think I must have done it before in the 1990s, but I don't remember when. But I acutely remember being embarrassed to have AAA come and do it for me sometime last year because it was so trivial, which is why I did it myself this time.

Heh...yeah, I felt really silly when it took the guy all of 6 6 minutes or some such to do it. I just need to make sure I've got a jack and all that, but really, it didn't look very difficult.

Most spare tires are only rated for 50 miles or so. I don't know about you but I do almost that in a day. Just go to a Firestone or something. You drop off your car, it takes about half a day. You'll just be depressed by how much tires cost. Well, I guess you could think of a tire as 2-3 tanks of gas; that should make it feel less expensive in the long run.

I took the car to a place near work today, so I'm all set. You're right, the cost was a little depressing, but I'm just glad I have a job and don't have to worry too much about it. Otherwise, I'd be pretty annoyed. Well, I'm still annoyed, but it's not the end of the world.
