how do i write (in this lj, specifically) about something someone said that's bugging me without being passive-agressive about it? i'm not really angry, just need to vent a little, and i don't want to name the person because it's not really relevant who said the things, just that they were said. but at the same time, i feel like if i write and describe the situation, the person may feel either attacked or overly apologetic, neither of which is my intent. perhaps this entry works as a disclaimer? heh. i don't know.

It's your journal; write what you like.

Also, being passive-aggressive can be better than being aggressive-aggressive, as long as you know that whoever you're really targeting can take the hint.

it's my journal, but other people read it. unless i make an entry private, i have to consider that my words are out there for people to see. i agree that i am entitled to write whatever i want, but i also want to balance that with not being hurtful to a friend.

There are a few possibilities. You could try to aim your post clearly at some purpose (like getting advice or seeking understanding) that has to do with you instead of the other person. Or you could write directly to the person in question to let them know you don't intend to attack them, if you and the other person understand each other sufficiently well to do that.

The comment i posted here describes a bit more of what i think about using LJ for this sort of thing.

thanks for the suggestions! i do want feedback/advice, so i think making a post in that direction would be fine. and the person involved is a good friend, so explaining myself directly will be good.

LJ is interesting...i feel like in a lot of ways, it's making me a far less private person. i'm not sure if that's good or bad. on the one hand, it's good to share things about my life with my friends. on the other hand, the ease of posting when frustrated or confused or something means that a lot of things that people read about would've never been said out loud because by the time i go to actually talk to someone, i've most likely calmed down or thought things through more. weird.

i hadn't even thought of that option. heh. i'm sort of looking for feedback from people, but i can write the venting part as a private entry and the calmer, feedbacky part as a regular one. thanks for the idea!

hey, question for you...i think you did a survey thing a long time ago where you list things you want to say about all the people on your friends list and then they have to guess which one is theirs? Do you even know what i'm talking about? :P Anyway, if you do, and you remember...could you point me in the direction of your entry? I want to do something similar, b/c I am *extremely* bored right now, but I couldn't remember how it went exactly.

it's the 20 statements game, and it's much fun! i didn't play it as only people on my friends list, but it's definitely doable that way, as well. people weren't very good at guessing this time around, though...
