bab5 hosting

if you didn't get the email, i'm hosting bab5 today at my parents' place (at their suggestion, no less) while they're out of town. comment or send me an email if you need the address or directions, or just come on over any time after 7:30.

you talk about bab5 all the time.

what is it?

hah. i forget that it's non-obvious. short version: it's my new group of friends. long version: there was a group of people, years ago at princeton, who really liked the sci-fi show babylon 5. it aired on thursdays, so they'd meet to watch it. then it moved to wednesdays, so they taped it and watched it on thursdays. then it got cancelled, so they just met to hang out. several of them moved to the bay area and started having the weekly hang-outs here, and that's what it is now. many of the people who come have never seen the show, or, like me, have seen it just to see what exactly it is. the group is a fun, dorky, techy, and very affectionate bunch of people. the weekly bab5 things consist of dinner (usually pizza or thai) and general hanging out. sometimes there are games. sometimes people dance. sometimes they juggle. sometimes they hottub. most of the time, they sit around in piles on couches and foof chairs and things and chat. it's a very self-entertaining bunch.

i'm not sure how to best describe the love i feel for this group. this comment is merely a summary of activities, but it shall have to suffice for now.

Actually, the Bab5 list started out here, though a bunch of the early members were Princeton alums, and some of us used to watch Star Trek: TNG together on occassion at Pton. Just to set the record straighter...

oh, huh. i guess the princeton affiliation made me think that the group was originally from there. thanks for clarifying!
