life is falling into place

i'm fairly anxious about moving to tucson this summer, so i'm trying to concentrate on the positives. and there are lots! so i was thinking i'd list them here, to look at when i'm too stressed out about the whole process.


-the prof i'll be working with is awesome! he's pretty far along in his career, so he doesn't have an agenda to push. he runs studies his students are interested in, basically. and he's super proud of all of them, which is nice to hear.
-the program seems like a great fit, with a lot of research stuff and good clinical training at the same time. i'll get to take an assessment sequence right off the bat!
-the students in the lab seem great. everyone was really nice when i visited, and they just seem like a good bunch. the other applicants seemed great, too.
-i got the fellowship that was a longshot! so now, i have funding for my first year to basically do all research all the time, in addition to my course work. i won't have to TA, which is nice because i'll do that later, anyhow, and it'll let me get really involved with the lab right off the bat.
-my parents are looking at condos in tucson, so i'll get to have my own place! they're gonna put the money down, and i'll pay the monthly mortgage and association fees. with tucson housing prices, i'll even be able to afford it!
-there's a ballroom club at the UofA that goes to some of the same comps that the UCSD team goes to, so i'll be able to get back into dancing! weee!


so yes, happiness. i just need to look back at this when i get worried, and it'll be all good.

Yep, the grad school I got into is U of A, in Tucson. I'm gonna be very sad to leave everyone behind, though.

How exciting! And glad to hear you'll be dancing again -- you'll have to make sure your team comes up to Stanford's comp so I get to see you. :~) (One of these years I may go to UCSD's comp, but in the past there's always been some sort of conflict and I haven't been able to go.)

Heh. I'll see what I can do with the team. It sounds like they're pretty loosely organized, so perhaps it won't be too hard to convince at least a few people to come with me...
