quote from student:

"It is used when experimenters want to examine/analyze the cause of a cause. When the want to find what cause it & what caused the caused. A way to look at the steps that lead to a the cause which can lead to the way."

this was hand-written, and i've left all words and typos in. it doesn't even matter what question this was supposed to be answering, since it doesn't answer anything! i kinda like the conclusion, though. it can lead to the way! philosophically deep! it probably didn't help this child's score that i was grading at 2am...

Oh .... dear.

Was this from an undergrad student? Because I seriously thought it was from an elementary school student lol!

Wow.

Wow. It seriously did not take much for him to get into college I guess. I want to see his admissions essay, lol! :P

Hah! I didn't even think of that. Our undergrads aren't...great. There are a lot of really smart ones, but there's a ton of people who were good in comparison to others in their school, but aren't very bright overall.

I'm trying to figure out if the person speaks English as a first language. That's the benefit of the doubt that I am trying to give the student.

I think answers like that happen when the person truly has no idea what the answer is and might be not really understand the question, so they write the words in the question over and over again in the hope that they'll be awarded points.

heh. yeah, i think that's really the answer here. the person's answers to the other questions, while not great, were fairly coherent. i don't think English is the issue.

Wow, this is one of the best undergrad masterpieces I've ever seen, even at the U of A!

I'm thinking the student started writing, realized that there was a fundamental lack of clue, went to another question, came back, started writing again, repeat and fade.

Alternate hypothesis: Student was sniffing glue.

Possible grader response: "Like, whoa, man."

Hahaha. This wasn't a take-home quiz, so if the student was high, he or she must enjoy getting high in the middle of the day. That would be sad. But yeah, it kinda reads like that, doesn't it?

Out of curiosity, why is your Amused icon a manly chest?

Hmmm. This is a very good question, and one I don't know the answer to. It's a mood icon set that I didn't make. Fascinating. I didn't even notice!

Also, I think it's Viggo Mortensen's manly chest. :)
