interesting couple of days
Feb. 9th, 2003 05:03 pmit's been a good weekend...and it's not over yet! although i don't think i'm gonna do anything exciting today, but still...there's still some time left in sunday.
anyway, i've had a good friday and saturday. friday night, we all went to cheri's house to sleep over, and that was lots of fun...we watched legally blond, played cards, and generally acted like the giggly silly girls we are. i got to sleep at about 4...and then was woken up at 10 to have pancakes for breakfast! it was tres yummy and nice. after breakfast, we had a little over an hour for quiet time...i think cindy was afraid i'd be bored or uncomfortable or whatever, but i actually had a really nice time...went and sat in a park with my tanach and my journal and house like a lotus. i read the torah portion for last week, since i had forgotten to do so before, then read the one for next week...and then just went on reading 'till the end of exodus. i usually feel rushed when i'm reading, since there's always something else to do,but yesterday, there wasn't anywhere to be, and it was nice to just relax and read a bit. i also stumbled randomly onto psalm 119, which is apparently the longest psalm of them all. i actually read all the way through it, and was very proud of myself later on. it was kinda funny...i started off relating as the psalmist talks to God and asks for His help in observing His teachings, but then stopped relating when the psalmist found himself succesful...yeah...but it's a nice goal. and then after that, i was all inspired to write about house like a lotus, so i did...that book is really hard for me to write about sometimes...it affects me so much in places, that it's hard to verbalize my thoughts. but i'm working on it...slowly but surely.
we all went to lunch later and had pho...and it was really really yummy, unlike the last time i had it. and then i got to get fitted for guy pants for dancing, which was rather amusing. oh, and now i'm helping cindy with navlympics. well, i actually don't know who specifically i'll be helping, but yeah. it'll be fun.
in the evening, cindy, sam, and i went to see the pianist. man, that was a really good movie. i cried through like half of it, but i liked it a lot...very powerful. it's basically about this jewish pianist in poland during the war. the overwhelming emotion through the movie was, "how can people be like that?"
today, i had a breakfast date with dave, which was fun and rather entertaining, since we were both pretty out of it. i've been basically sitting around since then, doing random stuff online and reading and such. i need to find a job because i wanna go to brandeis collegiate institute during the summer, and that costs a lot. yeah.
parting thoughts: it's interesting how God speaks to me through so many different events and people and such...i was just realizing yesterday that i can learn so much from everyone around me, regardless of what faith they are. it's comforting, really.
