spring break summary part 1

dancingyeli had a lovely, if rather short break...i'm a bit sad it's over, but fairly excited about the upcoming quarter. it promises to be rather cool. right now i'm a little tired, but not yet tired enough to go to sleep. so what follows is a summary of the first half of my break, conveniently hidden behind an lj-cut tag for anyone who doesn't feel like wading through it.
saturday: cindy, sam joe, and i flew in to sf very early saturday morning...our flight left san diego at 6:30am! it was fairly crazy, but since it was the only available not horribly expensive flight, there wasn't too much we could do. spent the rest of the day at home, hanging out with my family and helping my parents move stuff out of my room, since the carpet is going to be taken away and it'll have a lovely hardwood floor.
sunday: we went to visit my sister and alex and rachel! that was super fun...rachel is such a cutie! i miss that kid so much! yes...she's gotten big and very smart and a little mischievous, but she's a good child. and she's finally counting! it was so good to spend time with her...and i have to wonder how my sister and alex have the energy to do it all the time...that child just doesn't like to sit still! it was also oscar night, so we watched bits and pieces of that...way to go, adrien brody! he deserved that oscar, no doubt about it. anyone who hasn't seen the pianist yet should really go see it. wonderful movie...depressing, but very very good.
monday: in the morning, i went to get my nails done...they turned out a little more red than i expected, but not in a bad way. cindy said they looked cool and vampy, which i think is just plain funny. but yeah...now my nails look cool, and will hopefully remain cool until at least this weekend's comp. anyhow, moving on. after getting lovely nails, my mom and i went out to a quick lunch, which was tres nice. just chatted and stuff...it doesn't happen all that often. and then i got to finally see sam, after about 3 months! it was tres nice to hang out with him...we went to the beach for a while and a random dog came over and sat on my lap. and then we went back to my place and watched hong kong movies...infernal affairs, which was a crime movie with a surprisingly good plot, and chinese odyssey 2002, a romantic comedy that was utterly and completely bizzare, but good nonetheless. so yeah, nice day.
tuesday: my b-day! i'm now 20! yeah...i had a very nice day, full of phone calls and e-mails and such. it started at 10am with a phone call from the two vics, who were in colorado. i was tres excited to hear from them...and then everyone else started calling. i heard from toly, cindy, natalie, bevan, greg, maxim, nikki, sam from sf, sam joe, jessica from my sorority, renee, and numerous family friends. bevan also came over for a couple of hours and we hung out and caught up...and then my family along with cindy and natalie all went out to dinner at this vietnamese place in the city. it was tres yummy and lots of fun, since rachel was also there. it was kinda funny going back and forth between russian and english, but i had a good time. it was a very nice birthday.
well, that's all for now...the second half will hopefully come tomorrow, or on tuesday. good night, all.
